Quezon City International Marathon on its 4th year!
Last year I missed running this marathon as I went to Baguio City to do the RUN UNITED provincial leg in Baguio City. This year, I shall not miss the Quezon City International Marathon [QCIM] for several reasons. One, I live in Quezon City. In spite of having the heaviest traffic congestion in Metro Manila, this city is also home to one of the best places to run and the QCIM route is a testament to it. Two, the race route of QCIM is something to remember. For those doing the full marathon distance, runners get a chance to run inside the UP Diliman Campus, the premiere state university in the Philippines that was established during the time of the American occupation. Another aspect of the route that is amazing is that runners get a chance to run inside the La Mesa Dam watershed. In an urbanized area that is full of noise, clutter, pollution and buildings — it is a welcome change to run through such areas of tranquility. I even heard that UP Diliman is a favorite area for running for actors such as Piolo Pascual! Finally, in spite of the many objections of people due to the heavy traffic that the QCIM creates — I still love Quezon City. I lived half of my life here. I literally grew up in this city and though I’ve lived in other areas and cities of Metro Manila, this is the place that I call home.
So here’s the event poster and just click on the poster to zoom in on the details! It’s all happening on December 2, 2012! See you at the starting line!
